First Appointment and Scheduling

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation so that your doctor can review your medical history, perform a thorough examination and explain your treatment needed. This visit will allow our treatment coordinators to discuss your treatment plan and review your insurance benefits with you.

Occasionally, surgery can be performed on the same day, however, complex treatment plans and medical issues may require that treatment be performed at your next visit.  We may also have to consult with other health care providers prior to proceeding with treatment.

Please notify our staff when scheduling if you have any medical problems (ie. diabetes, bleeding problems, cardiovascular disease, artificial heart valves or joints) or are taking any medications (ie. blood thinners, bisphosphonates, insulin, heart medications, immunosuppressive agents) that may affect your surgical care.

If you are considering intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, you must have nothing to eat for 6 hours or drink 3 hours before treatment, and have an adult with you to provide transportation.

IMPORTANT: Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your surgical referral slip and any x-rays if applicable.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • All medical and dental insurance information.
  • Any necessary registration forms if mailed to you or printed prior to your appointment. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
